Repath names Dr. Joaquin Vicente Ferrer CEO and puts European wind at the centre

The Hamburg-based company starts with the question wind owners face this budget season: after two weak wind years, is the dip cyclical or structural?

Hamburg, 20 October 2026 - Repath today announces Dr. Joaquin Vicente Ferrer as its new CEO and puts European wind at the centre of its work: helping wind owners, operators and investors plan on the wind they’ll actually get - what to budget, where to build, what to buy. Joaquin Ferrer leads the company alongside co-founders Sebastian Bartels, Chief Operating Officer, and Dr. Thomas Remke, Chief Climate Scientist.

After a weak 2025, many European wind owners are seeing 2026 fall short again - and are setting their 2027 budgets without knowing whether the dip is cyclical or structural. Repath is starting there: placing recent years against 75 years of wind history to show what is realistic for the years to come, and where wind patterns are shifting.

“After a bad year, ‘hopefully next year is better’ isn’t a strategy. Wind owners need to know what actually happened, because it shapes every expansion and risk decision they make next,” said Dr. Joaquin Vicente Ferrer, CEO of Repath.

Since its founding in 2021 at the University of Hamburg, Repath has supported 26 clients across renewable energy, utilities and manufacturing. When a large European IPP asked whether its weak 2025 was a one-off, Repath placed it against 75 years of wind history and a forward view. A large share of the portfolio sat within a single German wind cluster - sites whose output rises and falls together - and that wind system has been observed running weak over the past years. With few assets elsewhere to offset it, those weak years were pulling the whole portfolio’s average down. The IPP realigned its portfolio towards assets that capture the wind of the future.

That result reflects how Repath works: PhD scientists harnessing an AI-powered system work inside the client’s team, start with the question on the table, and stay until it’s answered. Repath delivers the work where clients already work - as a tailored application or a data feed into their own models.

Joaquin Ferrer joined Repath in 2025 as Principal Scientist & Solution Architect and has since led the company’s technical and commercial strategy, bridging climate science and infrastructure finance. He holds a PhD from the University of Potsdam, with research in climate risk modelling at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), is a licensed civil engineer, and grew up in a third-generation family engineering business.

The former CEO and co-founder, Julius Pröll, has stepped down for personal reasons. We are deeply grateful for the foundations he laid and wish him the very best.

Wind owners can send Repath their site list at [email protected] and, within 48 hours, see how their last two years compare with 75 years of wind history.
